KKE escalate the anti-NATO and anti-imperialist struggle

Communist Party of Greece (KKE) actively involves in the anti-imperialist struggle of the people of Greece since the begining of May this year.

Communist Party of Greece (KKE) had its 20th Congress last April and had noted its political resolutions on the international issues as follows:

“...New capitalist international inter-state unions are being formed and old ones are being recomposed (e.g. BRICS, G20 etc.), as well as regional ones (e.g. Shanghai Cooperation Organization, ALBA in Latin America etc.)in the framework of the international imperialist system.

In these conditions, the inter-imperialist contradictions are strengthening. All the capitalist states, with the USA in the first place, are modernizing their military equipment, while the most powerful seek an advantage in terms of the most modern military hardware.

The national arena of the class struggle remains the primary one, at the same time its coordination at a regional and international level is of great importance. The main problem is that no upsurge of the communist movement is observed at an international level, which would constitute a real beacon of hope. On the contrary, many of the parties that define themselves as communist have been co-opted in capitalist management and choose a camp amongst the imperialist alliances…”

Following these resolutions of the 20th Congress, KKE has recently escalated the anti-imperialist struggle in Greece through the last May and June.

On the 6th of May, the entire 15-member Parliamentary Group of the KKE have tabled a question in parliament to the Foreign and Defense ministers on the question of the country's disentanglement from the imperialist interventions and wars.

The Question was themed as : “On the disentanglement of the country from the imperialist interventions and wars.”

The demand which appeals “no Greek territory be used for the transit of foreign military forces which will participate in NATO's "Noble Jump" exercise in Romania”, and the slogan of the Greek people expressing “No land, no water for the murderers of the people”, have been emphasized in the intervantion of the KKE members. On the 2nd of June, the transport of NATO forces had been blocked by the forces of the KKE and KNE on a national highway in Northern Greece (Macedonia). The officail site of KKE reported that: "...Earlier, dozens of KKE demonstrators had set up a roadblock on the Egnatia highway, impeding the transit of Albanian military vehicles, which were heading through Greece to Romania, where from the 6th to the 14th of June the NATO "Noble Jump 2017" exercise will be held. The demonstrators, shouting anti-NATO and anti-imperialist slogans, allowed other vehicles to pass, only impeding the transit of NATO vehicles, which withdrew after several hours of waiting. Sotiris Zarianopoulos, MEP of the KKE, was at the side of the demonstrators..."  (See the link for the news on ICP)

Lastly, on the 24th of June  the All-workers’ Militant Front (PAME) organized a major national demonstration in  Thessalonica against the imperialist interventions and wars and Greece’s participation in them.

As the main speaker G. Perros, member of the Executive Secretariat of PAME, stressed that:

"We demonstrate and we demand:

No participation in the imperialist interventions and wars outside our borders. No involvement in the massacres of NATO and the EU. The ships, airplanes and military units must return home. No soldier must be outside our borders.

All the foreign military installations must be closed. NATO must leave the Aegean and the Balkans.

There must be a struggle against border changes, a struggle against restrictions of trade union and other liberties.

No military spending for NATO, but spending for the needs of  the workers’-people’s families. NATO out of the Aegean.

There must be a struggle against nationalism, racism, chauvinism.

Solidarity with the refugees, the immigrants, solidarity with all the peoples"
