The Congress reconfirmed the defense of the interests of the working class against capital, both public and private, the defense of the sovereignty of the country against imperialist aggression, and the strengthening of the social and political movement of workers, peasants and the people to achieve a revolutionary anti-imperialist and anti-fascist alliance against the escalated aggression of imperialism, especially of the US and EU imperialism as the fundamental task of the PCV.

The Congress delegation elected the new central committee, which in its first meeting, elected again Oscar Figuera as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the PCV.

The Congress received solidarity messages from 42 parties from different continents and delegates from 26 fraternal communist, workers’ and peoples’ parties and movements from 23 countries.

Within the framework of the Congress, the PCV also organized the 2nd International Ideological Seminar on the relevance of Leninist thought and policies in the 100th Anniversary of the Bolshevik October Revolution. In the opening speech of the Seminar, Oscar Figuera, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the PCV, said the following: “Today, as Venezuelan communists, we reaffirm the Leninist character of our party. A party of revolution should have a clear class-based definition, with a working class ideology and program, with an international character, with a collective conduct, and with an absolute independence from the bourgeois class and its tool, the bourgeois state.”
