The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, talked about the danger of his country's involvement in a war, during an interview with the Ethnos. According to a report in the idcommunism (In Defence of Communism) website, Koutsoumbas accused SYRIZA-ANEL government of provoking Turkey's aggressiveness.

Answering the argument that claims NATO being a security organization, Koutsoumbas reminded that NATO and EU are responsible for bloody conflicts in the region for many years. The General Secretary underlined possibility of escalating tension between the ruling classes in Turkey and Greece getting out of control. As the idcommunism quotes:

"...behind Erdogan's (The Turkish President) internal consumption arguments expressed by government officials, there is the attempt of the Turkish bourgeois class to upgrade its position, in contrast with the Greek bourgeois class, in a region where knives are pulled out between imperialist powers and powerful capitalist states, such as the US, the EU, China, Russia and others."
